Could you be PCPI’s new Associate Director, Measure Testing?

If you are interested in assisting with seamless program delivery by managing a team of highly skilled staff, and by directing measure testing projects that include performing analytic evaluation associated with the feasibility and scientific acceptability of measures, then this may be the job for you.

 

The Associate Director will work with the PCPI senior leadership team and PCPI membership on efforts to advance the science of performance measure testing with an emphasis on electronic Clinical Quality Measures (eCQMs). The Associate Director will also represent the PCPI on external initiatives e.g., NQF, CMS, HL7, ONC committees, and serve as the main point of contact to PCPI members and stakeholders for measure testing projects.

  • NQRN Learning Work Group -- Assess the needs of the registry community, create and curate practical content to address those needs
  • NQRN Qualified Clinical Data Registries Work Group -- Promote advocacy for QCDRs and inform the development of resources to aid in the process of becoming and maintaining QCDR status
  • NQRN Research Work Group -- This is a new work group designed to connect registry stewards with the wider community of researchers who use or may have the opportunity to use registry information to support clinical research

Interview with ACCME: An Intro to Quality Improvement

PCPI’s Director of Quality Improvement, Stephen L. Davidow, MBA-HCM, CPHQ, APR, was interviewed about the foundational aspects of healthcare quality improvement by Steve Singer, PhD, Vice President of Education & Outreach, Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). The purpose of the interview was to inform medical education professionals, who may have limited experience in QI, an understanding of how CME may help drive QI and process improvement as they plan their education activities.

July 13th Deadline - Submitting Case Examples of Effective Patient Registries

As part of AHRQ’s upcoming fourth edition of Registries for Evaluating Patient Outcomes: A User’s Guide, the agency is seeking case examples to illustrate the effective use of patient registries. The new edition, planned for release in 2019, will provide strategies used by registry developers to overcome common challenges.

 

Case example submissions should: be 500 words or less and include the registry name, purpose and sponsor; registry size (number of participants and/or sites); registry status (planning, ongoing, closed); and a brief description of the case example, including registry developers' efforts to address challenges.

APMA Celebrates a Major Legislative Victory

On June 6th the VA MISSION Act was signed into law. This legislation provides comprehensive reforms to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health-care system and includes language from APMA’s VA Provider Equity Act. The passage of this legislation represents the largest advancement for federally employed podiatrists since 1976, and is the first bill specific to podiatry passed by the United States Congress. MIPS Targeted Review, Payment Adjustment, & Performance Feedback

CMS has posted new resources on to help eligible clinicians and groups understand their Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) final score, performance feedback, and payment adjustment, as well as the targeted review process in their Quality Payment Program Resource Library.

 

Additionally, CMS has announced the finalized policies for Year 2 of the QPP.
