The Advocacy Program is PCPI's newest pillar, developed in 2017 as a response to input from our members and stakeholders. Our responsibility and strategic focus is to lay a foundation to advocate for effective, equitable and responsive health care policy. The Advocacy Program is tasked with:
•Responding to rulemaking
•Educating policy makers
Advocacy Program Structure
The Advocacy program is guided by an Advisory Committee and is a joint effort with other PCPI program areas. This multi-program approach is vital to the success of advocating on behalf of our membership.
ADVOCACY PROGRAM process
•All PCPI members are given the opportunity to engage in advocacy activities
•The PCPI Advocacy Advisory Committee reviews input from PCPI members and staff on advocacy positions and activities
•The PCPI Executive Committee provides final approval of PCPI advocacy positions based on input from the Advocacy Advisory Committee
•The PCPI Board remains informed of PCPI’s advocacy positions and activities
•PCPI staff identify opportunities to engage in advocacy activities, draft PCPI advocacy documents, ensure that members are given the opportunity to engage in advocacy activities, and keep members informed of advocacy outcomes. PCPI staff also support the Advocacy Advisory Committee, Executive Committee, and Board in their advocacy related roles.
Advocacy Advisory Committee
The Advocacy Advisory Committee advises all PCPI Committees and the PCPI Board of Directors on matters related to legislative and regulatory processes.
